Review Methodology

Our published comparisons are research-based unless an article explicitly states that a named product was physically tested and explains how it was tested.

Evaluation process

  1. Define the use case: identify the reader, environment, constraints, and important buying criteria.
  2. Collect evidence: compare manufacturer specifications, seller terms, warranty and return details, independent references, and patterns in owner feedback.
  3. Compare consistently: assess products against the same criteria, including usability, safety-related features, durability indicators, value, and support.
  4. Check claims: avoid presenting promotional language or health claims as established fact.
  5. Review and update: revisit guides when products, availability, or material specifications change.

What our rankings mean

A “best” or “top pick” label reflects our editorial judgment for the stated use case at the time of review. It is not a guarantee that one product is best for every person.
